It was a pleasure this midsummer to particiapte in the Music of What Happens, a unique event at the the Granary Theatre that paired composer, multi-instrumentalist andf all round force of nature Seán Mac Erlaine with four different writers: and Tom Morris, Chetna Maroo, Mary Dunne and myself.
Curated by the tireless Danny Denton, hosted by The Stinging Fly and Banshee presses, the event paired live, improvised compositions by with new writing to generate a very special 'call-and-response' artistic dialogue. It was a pleasure to enegage once again with the remarkable output of Seán, an artist I have long admired, and to fuse, as best I could, my poetry with his inimitable sound world. My thanks to Cork Midsummer Fest and especially to Danny Denton for the opportunity to be a part of this most memorable afternoon!
